Design Engineering Internship For Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics Engineers

Role

This internship requires a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics  Engineering student, or recent graduate, to work closely with the Engineering Manager, to assist with the standardization of one or two products lines and develop best practices for design, manufacturing techniques and commonality of components to minimize costs. 

This opportunity will be attractive to students who wish to apply their skills and expertise (3D mechanical design and development, manufacturing techniques/procedures and lean efficiencies) in a progressive and challenging environment. The role will be based within the engineering department of 10 design engineers, working closely with production and workshop staff to re‐design and streamline product lines.

The successful candidate will be given a set scope to fully encapsulate standard design of existing products, with a clear end goal and the ability to show true progress and achievement for a rewarding internship. All necessary training be provided while working on the projects. 

Tasks: 

• Work alongside Engineers and Workshop staff to refine current designs.
• Troubleshoot issues and work to resolve these.
• Run cycle time comparisons for build time (Current v’s proposed) 
• Mechanical 3D CAD design of components and systems 
• Modelling and simulation

Skill Desired: 

• MEng or equivalent degree in an engineering discipline
• Mechanical design programs and techniques (3D CAD)
• AutoDesk Inventor preferred, Lean Manufacturing ethos, Office software related proficiency (Word, Excel, Adobe, etc) 
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills 
• Flexible and open minded 

Duration:

•      6 Months

Languages:

Good spoken and written English levels are required.
